The cooperation aims to use ecological BrightBio technology to develop a biobased and biodegradable pet urn for the pet crematorium Pohjantähti.
Pohjantähti Oy, located in Varjakka Oulunsalo, Northern Ostrobothnia, is the leading pet crematorium of Northern Finland. Pohjantähti has planned to add a biodegradable urn to their selection for a long while now.
“Biodegradable urns are in demand today. We are more aware of sustainability than before, and consequently, people place more emphasis on finding the ecological solution, which is also a personal interest of mine. We must give future generations the opportunity to enjoy pure nature – for me it is soul care at its best”, says Tomi Tervo, the founder of Pohjantähti.
“Now that we found a partner from the Oulu region who shared our values and interests, the time felt right for expanding our urn selection. Brightplus is a pioneer in its field, and it is important for us to support local domestic companies.”
Brightplus develops the biobased pet urn building on top of BrightBio platform. This green chemistry-based technology reduces the circularity gap by upcycling the unused industrial side streams that would otherwise end-up back into nature as waste. BrightBio pet urn offers a sustainable, 100% biobased and biodegradable alternative without any harmful chemicals that would cause environmental damage.
“It has been wonderful to work with Pohjantähti and to notice how our values have met and also touched many others around us. The use of unused industrial side streams in biodegradable pet urns is very relevant today, when everyone is doing their part to save the planet for future generations,” says Milja Hannu-Kuure, Managing Director of Brightplus.
“Tomi’s vast expertise and experiences from the field have guided urn’s design work strongly. This is an excellent example of how we can use BrightBio materials and innovate a new product together with our customer from the very beginning, to meet their specific needs.”
